The Trades

All right so it’s been a while since the trade deadline and we have the Northeast Division locked up. So I was thinking I would take a look at the trades we made and see what is going on.

Tomas Kaberle for Joe Colborne, 1st round pick, and provisional 2nd round pick

I figure we could start with him since he was our “big time” deal. Let me say this first, I have always sort of thought Kaberle was over-rated, I mean he is good but in my opinion not as good as Chia made him out to be. That being said, even though he has not lit the score sheet on fire I think it was a decent acquisition, especially as it took some of the load for a puck moving D-man off of Kampfer, who we don’t need to be putting that much pressure on in a (hopefully) long playoff run. But, and to me this is a big but, I think we spent too much on him. A first round pick yea that was expected, a prospect too was expected, a provisional pick I can deal with, but Joe Colborne we should have kept. I may eat my words on this but Zach Hamil or Caron are both prospects that Burke would have taken, but we gave up Colborne who I think is going to be a very very good when he gets to the NHL. The attitude of the trade, however, I love. This shows that Neely and Chia are very serious about how much they are wanting to at the very least win the conference. Overall I like the trade I just hope it doesn’t bite us in the ass when the resigning comes up.

Rich Peverley & Boris Valabik for Blake Wheeler & Mark Stuart

This was my favorite of the trades. Rich Peverley has brought something that Blake Wheeler never really seemed to bring and that is drive and want. Every time this guy is on the ice he is working his ass off, proven with that amazing shorthanded goal a few weeks ago. Also, and I didn’t know this prior to the trade because he played for the asshole of the NHL, this guys stick handling is amazing and he uses it to create smart plays and during smart plays, kinda like what Michael Ryder would look like if he didn’t suck ass. Also, and possibly the best part of this trade, we got rid of Blake Wheeler. He was completely useless, like an oversized Paille. I didn’t want to see Stuart go, but thems the brakes we need the cap space for Kabs, plus McQuaid took his spot really well. The only thing I know about Valabik is the dude is huge, Chara is his hero, and Chara beat his ass one time; may be good to go eventually.

Chris Kelly for 2nd round pick

Next year’s draft sucks when you get to the second round, it is more top heavy than Tyra Banks forehead (seriously that bitch has a huge forehead). So that part doesn’t bother me. Kelly is great on the PK, quick, uses the body, and I think will be good with time. I don’t like that he has a year left on contract or that he has had so much trouble adapting to our system. He has been making bad passes and turnovers and I think that is what it can be attributed to. Coming from Ottawa to Julien’s system is what I’m hoping is the problem but the guy works his ass off so I’m ok with it for now. Also his line has consisted of Peverley, Ryder, and now Seguin so they have had to build chemistry, and now that Seguin is on the line (and with Recchi being old as shit and slumping and Bergy not being at his best) this is the 2nd most exciting line to me (behind Krejci’s line). I’m good with this one too.

Trade we should have made
Michael Ryder for Milkcrates

Look I still like Tuukka alot. Why you ask? Fucker got pissed and threw milk crates at shit, and it was awesome. I like emotion, specifically getting pissed off when you suck, and Rask kicked ass when he was chucking milk crates about. Make it happen Chia.
This is terrifying.

Thrashers @ Bruins

                                                                          April 2
                                           Thrashers (33-32-12) at Bruins (43-23-11)

We are going to win this one. Wanna know why????? Dustin Byfuglienenenendgosubonad loves man sausage. That is why we are going to win. But seriously, they do have a somewhat threating line up with the black Pillsbury dough boy (52 pts), Evander Kane (41 pts), Bryan Little (44 pts), and Andrew Ladd (55 pts). They also have some new ex-Bruins Mark Stuart (who isn’t a douche) and Blake Wheeler (who is a massive douche….. look I tried, literally I would try to cheer when this asshole got the puck and start liking him but the guy is like half a damn handy J ok… then he gets to Atlanta and starts sucking less, eat a bag of dicks Blake Wheeler) who know our system really well so could be dangerous, but I don’t expect too much. However, they did keep a slumping Flyers team at bay tonight and I must say I like Pavelec (even with his craptastic record if you don’t have anyone playing worth a damn in front of you, your record is going to suck) and Mason.

Keys to the win

First and foremost, someone needs to give Michael Ryder AIDS. Yes, AIDS. Allow me to explain. Firstly, this gets his useless ass off the ice. Second, the team could use this to generate a ton of emotion “Ohhhh we need to win for Michael (does he even have a nickname)”, you get where I’m going.

Next, we just need to play our game, pissed and physical. Hell, Tyler Seguin is even getting in on it, and I am impressed by how much he has stepped his game up since being sat for a few games. Also, Kelly needs to stop trying to overplay his role. Tired of seeing the failed dekes and giveaways, get it to Peverly let him get the puck in and then you guys do your speedy stuff and score. Also, it would be fan damn tastic if someone would get Daniel Paille some skating lessons. The dude has his ass planted firmly on the ground more than a straight dude at a drag show.  Lastly, as Tuukka will probably be in net we need to really work in front of him to get his confidence up prior to playoffs. If, god forbid, Thomas does go down we are going to need a confident Rask in net. This means clearing Antropov’s big ass out from in front of the net, don’t give up dumb penalties so doughie can blast one timers at him, and back check hard (shouldn’t be a problem though really).

My prediction: Boston wins 4-2

Phil Kessel

I really don't like this guy. Plus he looks like the kid on South park that goes Miiiiimmmmmmmzzzzzzyyyyyy.

Seriously put long hair on him and there you go
